DESCRIPTION: APW - Hamilton, Grade 951 (marked), 23J, 16S, gold-filled HC recase with attractive engraving detail, white enamel DS dial, SW-SS, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel arbor, striped pattern nickel damascene, s#81942. An extremely rare top grade watch, the total production of this pendant-set version of the Grade 951 was only 44 made. This extremely low production figure places the pendant-set Grade 951 among the absolute rarest of 16 size Hamilton production being tied in rarity with the 17 jewel Hayden W. Wheeler lever-set which also had 44 total made, and being exceeded in rarity only by the "thin bridge" version of the Hayden W. Wheeler which had only a handful of examples made. This particular example is listed in the Hamilton ledger as having been sold to the Non-Retailing Co. of Lancaster, PA on August 11th, 1915. From the collection of Dr. Robert Restuccia.
